Authenticate your email sending domain
Set up a dedicated sending domain with the right DNS records so your email lands in the inbox instead of spam. Do this before any campaign or nurture goes live.
- 1
Pick a subdomain for sending
Use a subdomain like mail.yourbrand.com or send.yourbrand.com, never the root domain. This isolates sending reputation from your main site.
- 2
Add the dedicated domain in GHL
Settings, then Email Services. Under the dedicated domain section, click Add Domain and enter the subdomain.
- 3
Publish the DNS records
GHL shows the exact records to create (CNAME and TXT records for SPF and DKIM). Add them at your DNS host (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Namecheap). Copy-paste exactly; a trailing dot or a typo fails verification.
- 4
Verify in GHL
Back in Email Services, click Verify. DNS can take from minutes to a few hours to propagate. Do not proceed to campaigns until it shows verified.
- 5
Set from-name and reply-to
Configure the default from-name (the brand or a real human) and a monitored reply-to address. Replies are revenue; never send from a dead inbox.
- 6
Send deliverability tests
Send test emails to a Gmail, an Outlook, and a Yahoo inbox. Check they arrive in the primary inbox, the from-name renders correctly, and links work.
Do it with Claude
Claude cannot edit DNS for you, but paste your DNS host’s record screen into the chat and it will diff every record against what GHL requires and spot the typo.
Watch out for
- Sending campaigns from the shared default domain, then burning deliverability you cannot get back.
- SPF record conflicts when the domain already has an SPF entry: merge them, never create two.
